Behind the Scenes

At every fashion show there is always some sort of drama or chaos that goes on back stage or in the audience. Fashion is simply not complete without some sort of madness going on behind the scenes. It can get a bit complicated when different designers begin sharing models or when the models have too many garments to change into. The people back stage definitely need to have tons of energy and be able to be in a fast paced environment. Whether you need to be steaming last minute pieces that got wrinkled during the trip to the location or whether you need to be cutting off last minute threads. It all has to be done. The models and the runway are your accents as well as your canvas. The moment that their foot steps on the runway everything needs to be flawless because there is no turning back. Several photographers will capture several angles of each garment and once those garments hit the runway you should have been completely done and satisfied with your work. It is a very fun experience but it also an experience that one should take seriously. Once the show has started there is no pause button. The models need to persistently go out one by one on the runway raping the catwalk. If a model is not dressed on time the runway could possibly be left empty for a certain amount of time and that kills us as designers. Not only will that look unprofessional but also the audience may become confused. Changing the models fast and helping them put on their shoes and holding their hand is part of our job. Sure there are some luxuries to being a Fashion Designer but most of it is very hard work and dedication. At the end of the day it is your reputation and your collection that was shown. It was your pride and your sweat going down the runway. If you don’t try your best then don’t try at all.
